Square has released a new feature that lets you assign multiple modifiers to a single item across different locations. While this adds flexibility, it can also introduce import errors in INFI when a modifier isn’t available at the item’s location.
How it works
-
You create an item and attach several modifiers.
-
You assign each modifier to one or more locations in your Square account.
-
When syncing to INFI, the system checks whether all assigned modifiers are enabled at the item’s location.
The import error
If even one modifier attached to an item is not enabled for that location, INFI will display the item but will refuse to import it. This prevents incomplete or invalid configurations from syncing into your system.
Example scenario
-
Item “Burger” has three modifiers:
-
M7 (enabled for all locations)
-
S1 (enabled for all locations)
-
Test Modifier (enabled for Location A only)
-
-
“Burger” itself is assigned to Location B.
-
During the import, INFI sees that Test Modifier isn’t enabled at Location B and blocks the import of “Burger.”
How to resolve
-
In Square, open the item you wish to import.
-
Review its list of modifiers.
-
For any modifier that isn’t assigned to the item’s location, scroll down to the bottom for the "Apply to sales locations" section and enable it for that location.
-
Save your changes.
-
Retry the import in INFI.
